Department of Health Policy and Management
The Department of Health Policy and Management was established in 2001. It was renovated in 2007 and has since then had the present name. The Department of Health Policy and Management offers both undergraduate and graduate programs for students to pursue a career in health care management at different levels. The department aims to cultivate students' capacity for business administration in medical and related industries by training them with the knowledge of modern technology and in the practical work of management, including that knowledge of searching medical databases for the latest treatment, assessing the quality of care provided to patients, and managing healthcare costs or influencing legislative issues. In collaboration with our university hospital, we have established technical systems for how to obtain information and how to manage therapeutic work technologically. |
♦Internationalization
This department places equal emphasis on theory and practice, and on imparting knowledge and training skills, hoping to cultivate students' concept of making the full use of manpower together with all the other resources available to the therapeutic industries. Moreover, this department also encourages students to acquire international experiences, for example, the overseas internship for BBA students. We hope through such overseas experience can expose students to different cultures, languages, medical teamwork, and therapeutic techniques, thus grooming them for the future as health management professions. |
♦Industrialization
This department provides opportunities for students to receive their internship trainings in accredited hospitals. The Internship Program is designed for students to experience practical working environments prior to their graduations and making career decisions. We also arrange industry visits for our students to pharmaceutical manufacturers and logistics and operations companies to acquire a multidimensional perspective. |
Each semester, this department organizes several special seminars from experts of different disciplines to enhance students’ professional knowledge. These speeches cover topics ranging from specialties of health management to interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary study.
♦Innovation Some faculty members of this department have many research links with universities abroad. These research collaborations also provide students’ opportunity to explore their knowledge of the health management to a different level. |
The program prepares students for beginning and middle-level of career entries, including careers in hospitals, insurance companies, medical device manufacturers, community health organizations, jobs for medical practice management, and government agencies. |
